 Ecommerce, Online Business In Thailand

After knowing Thailand 's consumer rose to 72.5 points in June 2009 versus 71.5 points in May 2009, The Nation Thailand also reports that online business in Thailand set to rise 40% in this year as more Thai firms use e-commerce and more companies are resorting to the Internet to boost business.

Ecommerce In ThailandIt's a great thing to welcome for such increasing percentage but i still wonder that if the people are willing to make online transaction like in other country such as Europe or United States. And the question are that how secured to do online transaction and how many people really prefer to buy online? And how guaranteed the product is without seeing or touching the real product? Can the people trust that those e-commerce sites are reliable? And so on... I don't say those Thai e-commerce sites are not reliable but i am thinking from the buyer point of view based on my experiences.

Many source says that most buyers in Thailand still feel convenient about paying offline for products but prefer online service for the information they want. I was curious to know then how many percentage are using credit card for online payment in Thailand and remember that When i was chatting with one of my Thai friends, he said there are 30% credit card holder in Thailand. But as personal experienced for more than 4 years in Thailand, i did not hear that one of my friends is saying if he/she bought some (value) stuff thru online e-commerce sites in Thailand.

Nevertheless, The Nation reports that "www.Tarad.com has about 150,000 online merchants and more than 1 million items available. The site recorded around 240,000 product transactions in the first half of the year, up from 190,000 over the same period last year. The top three products are fashion items, mobile phones and cars.

At www.ToHome.com, where mobile phones, health and beauty products and home furniture are hot items, the average is 4,000 to 5,000 purchase transactions per month. It has about 150,000 customers, around 90 per cent of which are based in Thailand. Around 55 per cent of the domestic customers are in Bangkok."

By seeing above report, hope Thailand will be one of the best e-commerce place in Asia soon and enjoy more to make money online.
